Our Story

How the ladies in pink and black came to be

The Garden State Girls NJ is a riding group that aims to empower women in the motorcycle community through charity rides, motorcycle events, and working with other like minded women's riding groups. We are the New Jersey chapter of the national Organization of Women on Wheels®. Our chapter director, Mercedes Meglio, created the group in 2015 and has watched us grow to over 35 active members from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York.

"I started The Garden State Girls NJ to unite and empower women riders in my area. I would like other women riders to be well educated in the style and type of motorcycle they choose to ride as beginners. We as women are a force to be reckoned with. We as a united group can be noticed and not be the minority in the biker world."

We are a philanthropic riding group. We regularly attend and volunteer at community events such as: toy and food drives, clothes/prom dress donations, veteran's assistance programs, hurricane and disaster relief, homelessness assistance, motorcycle safety lectures, and women's bike nights. In between all of our charity work, we attend guided rides throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. We have riden cross country to attend various motorcycle conventions in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennesee (just to name a few).
Our group has become a revving family- the cold months don't stop us from seeing each other! We celebrate our sisterhood through holiday parties and social events during the winter months while our bikes hibernate. If you are looking for a philanthropic sisterhood, then the Garden State Girls NJ are the girls for you.
